“Each day brings forth a new variable that affects the colors on display: the tide, the time, the cloud cover, the season, the wind.”
The Lowcountry landscape offers no shortage of inspiring subjects for painting; however, it is my belief and experience that even the exact same view can provide infinite source material. From the expansive marsh views of my neighborhood dock to the shorelines of the Charleston beaches, my daily walks are a regular connection to nature and my work where I attempt to quiet my mind, but my eyes are too busy eagerly seeking the composition set forth before me. My love for the marshes grasses are especially translated in my paintings; no matter how many times I see the sun hit the reed tips, it’s truly like I’m discovering a new feature within the wetlands. Each day and each hour brings forth a new variable that affects the colors on display: the tide, the time, the cloud cover, the season, the wind. It is my goal that I paint my sincere reverence and love of our landscape as the beautiful, wonderful gift we all share: how truly fortunate we are to have the ability to access both art and nature so freely in the Lowcountry.
