Clam Fam

In another exploration of the tiny creatures that inhabit our shoreline, my sister, daughters, and I spent a day collecting tiny clams- or what I later learned to be scientifically called “Coquina Clams.” We gathered the white ones in a bucket of water and sand and quickly returned them to the water and watched as the sun and sand colors of the afternoon light reflected off their pearlescent ridges. The soft and subtle warms and cools are highlighted with silver and gold oil paint as they shimmer and dance in the sun.
