The sand dollars are stacked in an oblong rectangle with strong shadows and subtle temperature shifts, making the hexagonal structure of the form seem weighted and sturdy as we're able to study the anatomy and design of its delicate structure. It allows us to contemplate the authentic versus the artificial; the manufactured versus the organic; it gives me the opportunity to express how mechanical and technical artmaking can be while I meticulously and carefully mix colors to paint in this photorealistic style.
